What To Expect From Your First Exercise Physiologist Appointment

Your initial consultation with our exercise physiologist will last 45 minutes. It starts with a detailed discussion about the reasons for your visit, any musculoskeletal pain you’re experiencing, and a review of case notes and diagnoses from your referring physiotherapist or sports doctor.

During this visit, your exercise physiologist will talk about your personal goals related to your functional ability. They will also conduct assessments to evaluate your strength, balance, and mobility.

This comprehensive assessment is crucial for crafting a tailored exercise regimen that meets your specific needs and circumstances. You’ll engage in some physical activity during this session, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothing.

Our experienced exercise physiologists will make sure to explain all procedures clearly and are always ready to answer any questions you may have—no question is too small for us!

Additionally, your exercise physiologist will demonstrate any exercises that you should perform at home and may suggest coordinating care with other health professionals if needed. Thanks to our strong network with various allied health professionals—including radiologists, sports doctors, and massage therapists—you can be confident that you’re receiving comprehensive, holistic treatment.

A doctor’s referral is not necessary for consulting with our exercise physiologists, unless you are processing a claim through Workers’ Compensation, a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA), the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), or Medicare.
