How long is a Pregnancy Massage sessions?

Each session is thoughtfully allocated 90 minutes. This duration is carefully chosen to ensure that you never feel rushed, allowing for a holistic and serene experience.

Here’s how your time will be structured:

  1. Initial Consultation: We begin with a brief consultation to discuss your current condition and tailor the massage to your specific needs.

  2. Preparation Time: Ample time is provided for you to comfortably undress and settle onto the massage table.

  3. Massage Duration: The core of your session, the massage itself, will be approximately 60 minutes of soothing and targeted therapy.

  4. Post-Massage Care: After your massage, there’s no need to hurry. Take your time to get dressed at your own pace.

  5. Hydration and Recovery: We encourage you to sit for a moment to hydrate with some water. This is an important step to ensure you’re not feeling dizzy or light-headed before you leave.

  6. Feedback and Discussion: Finally, there’s an opportunity to talk with your therapist about the session and receive any further advice or answers to your questions

Is pregnancy massage safe?

Massage therapy is generally considered safe if it is done properly by a trained professional and after the first trimester.

Always check with your doctor before you have a pregnancy massage. It may not be safe if you have:

  • nausea, vomiting, or morning sickness
  • previously had a miscarriage
  • a high risk pregnancy — for example, due to diabetes or high blood pressure
  • abdominal pain or bleeding
What should I wear?

To ensure our therapists can provide a full body massage, you will be asked to undress to your underwear. Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress to your underwear, and you will be covered with a towel at all times except the area being worked on. At all times, you must wear underwear.

Where will my massage take place?

Your massage will take place in a private, comfortable, quiet room. Easy listening music will be playing to help you relax, or you may choose to play your music; let the therapist know, and they will turn off the room speaker for you. Lighting can also be dimmed, so please ask if you prefer this.

What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?

Upon arrival, you will be led to our lounge area, where you will be offered water. You will be asked to fill in our health history client intake form, which you will hand to the therapist when they call you through to your treatment room.

Your therapist will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like to work on, if any conditions need to be addressed, and to determine what type of massage or combination of modalities is appropriate for you. Your massage therapist may perform specific assessments and testing to evaluate your condition and range of motion and see if you have any particular complaints or areas of concern.
